So a few weeks back I stripped a few minis to be repainted. One of those minis was the ex-swan Captain Gunnbjorn. I have always liked the mini and wanted to get him on the table but never got around to it. I have decided that the next two months my main focus for both painting and playing will be the good captain. I think the best way to play Gunnbjorn is in a mixed arms force and not fall into the all ranged aspect. I am pretty excited to try out Rok with Gunnbjorn as it will give me a heavy hitter in melee, a nice crit effect that guided fire can help proc, and an animus which can make my bomber into a melee monster as well if needed. The lists I am envisioning are something like this:

Now I am not 100% sold on these two list but they are a good jumping off point I think. I am not sure Alten is a great choice but I just love the dude. I enjoy playing him and I also like his storyline. I am also toying with the idea of doing his theme force due, in large part, to Lost Hemisphere Radio episode 50 and the conversation between Gday and Flanzer. This would require me to buy a second bomber, two thumpers, and maybe a second box of scouts and/or a blitzer. I am trying to avoid this as I still have a ton on minis to get through to meet my 2012 painting goals (as you can see at the top of the page) and it would be a pretty penny to add all that right now seeing as I already have purchases lined up for the month.
Now that I got the officer done for the fennblades I think the drummer will be up next week and then the man Gunnbjorn himself the following week. After that I will start picking off one fennblade weekly to get them up to fully painted. That should actually get me to the en of the 'scrum challenge or pretty darn close to it...and hopefully a war wagon :)
Since I am ADD when it come to hobbying I will also be working on my pDoomshaper over the next few months because I am really tempted to try out the Runes of War theme force. Once again this will require me to place a fairly hefty order seeing as I would want three more blisters of runeshapers.
Wouldn't it be better to swap Alten Ashley (whom I love) for Whelps in your 50 point list? With that many beasts you could use the fury management and the healing is always good.

DeleteDid you consider using a Stone Scribe Chronicler with the Fennblades? Tale of Mist gives them concealment and Feign Death for early-game survivability, and Hero's Tragedy creates great auto-hit opportunities for your ranged heavy hitters. With the extra point you could upgrade the Feralgeist in the first list to Alten or some Whelps (which I love for blocking charge lanes).
