Just What the Doctor Ordered

So as I mentioned in my previous post I have been in a bit of a funk lately. We yesterday was one hell of a day and seems to have gotten me back on track. Yesterday one of our FLGS, Play the Game Read the Story(PTG), held a Colossal release event. Based on response on our local forums it looked doubtful the event would happen. Even though I didn't think we would play I decided to pack up the Khador and head down to the store. While I was packing up I took a little time fiddling with my airbrush and low and behold I figured out the issue with it and now it is fully functional.

When I got to PTG I noticed we had at least three of our regulars and also a new guy joining the ranks. I got on the phone and got Scudo to join us getting us up to six player. PTG was offering really nice prize support and provided pizza for use. Our group doesn't typically enjoy free play style events but it really was a good time. The sanctuary scenario was a fun one and I think I might build a sanctuary at some point so I can play it again some time. We had Cryx, Cygnar, Khador, Retribution, Circle, and Skorne represented.

One player had a colossal on the table and that was Abe playing the Stormwall. Everyone was trying to get free for all games in for the extra point so I played two one on one game before I got a four vs four with Scudo, Abe, and Ty. This game was pretty bananas and took forever. There was no strategy in the game as it turned into a big game of "oh no you didn't your gonna get yours now". Multiple times during the game people reversed field just to try and stick it to someone that attacked them the turn before. My pVlad was the first 'caster to bite the dust but my units and Rorsch/Brine fought on for the Motherland. By my calculations if Abe won the game I would finish first for the day taking $100 in store credit and the champion coin. Well when the dust cleared Abe did win but stunk an extra point (damn you Scudo)in before the win and Dave let eBaldur die to wurm counters which snuck him an extra point causing a three was tie for first between myself, Abe,and Scudo. We were already in the store an hour and a half past closing so we decided to pool 1st and 2nd place prize money an split it three way. I won the roll off for the champion coin but gave it to Scudo (playing circle so no coin) and took the Khador one to match the one I got from Wrath. The new guy won the door prize which was a copy of Colossals.

When I got home and helped get the boys to bed I headed to the cave and primed some minis for my FADD army. Yesterday was a really fun day and just what the doctor ordered.

ACM Tourney

First off I'd like to say happy father's day to all the dads out there....now on to the minis. Yesterday we had the Andy Cash Memorial Tourney at Comix Zone. No Mr Cash has not passed he is just entering the grown up world and leaving us for a job in Hotlanta (damn you Atlanta first Mozz and now the Professional. Well the professional will be leaving town in the next few days so this was are last chance to give him a proper spiteful goodbye. We had 8 people make it out to the store yesterday to play and faction representation was as such:

Cryx: 2
Khador: 1
Mercs: 1
Retribution: 1
Legion: 1
Skrone: 1
Trollblood: 1

This tournament was a 50pt SR2012, divide and conquest, deathclock event. After much back and forth (and a quick consultation with the man Mr "Northblade" Bell) I settled on my lists. My first list is my standard pMaddy beast brick which I love to play and have had pretty good success with. The second list brought in some new minis that had yet to see table time.

Chief Madrak Ironhide (*6pts)
* Pyre Troll (5pts)
* Troll Axer (6pts)
* Earthborn Dire Troll (10pts)
* Mulg the Ancient (12pts)
* Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
Krielstone Bearer and 3 Stone Scribes (3pts)
* Krielstone Stone Scribe Elder (1pts)
Trollkin Champions (Leader and 2 Grunts) (6pts)
* Skaldi Bonehammer (3pts)
Fell Caller Hero (3pts)
Janissa Stonetide (3pts)
Troll Whelps (2pts)

This is pretty close to my standard list however this time I worked in a min champ unit with Skaldi.

Jarl Skuld, Devil Of Thornwood (*6pts)
* Troll Axer (6pts)
* Troll Impaler (5pts)
* Dire Troll Bomber (10pts)
* Rok (11pts)
* Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (Cylena and 9 Grunts) (10pts)
Sons of Bragg (6pts)
Alten Ashley, Monster Hunter (2pts)
Saxon Orrik (2pts)
Troll Whelps (2pts)

I didn't take too many picture throughout the day (cause I forgot) but I did get a few shots of pre-round one setup and the cast of characters playing.

The man of the day "the Professional" himself
The big bear Zack rocking the Team Spite Toronto Conquest shirt.....but stealing Cash's pose.
Tim setting up those dirty dragon spawn
Staring off into nothing is one of our young'ins Adam. Playing dirty dirty Cryx.
Oxyguy AKA Les setting up mercs. Hey Les by the way you don't need all those bokurs Cash isn't playing eCaine :)
Ty and his angry elves
Reluctantly joining the festivities was Brian and his Skorne army.

So the parings were announced for round one and low and behold I draw Mr Cash. I was hoping our paths would cross later in the day but alas that was not to be. Andy was playing his standard pSkarre/eSkarre lists. The scenario for this was pretty centralized and was going to be hard to win so I went with the old stand by pMadrak.

 The first few rounds went according pretty standard with me setting up my brick and Andy running towards me head long. He feated and charged power swelled raiders into Mulg and EBDT and an axer. Eight of the ten were within Skarre's control area to take advantage of dark guidance and her feat. Andy underestimated the amount of damage Mulg can take under the effects of a KSB and EBDT animus with a wall in front of him. He was only able to get 3 reach attacks onto Mulg beating him up a little but just making Mulg angry. The rest of the turn was uneventful with my beasts getting a little beat up but no losses.

After measuring my control area it looked like Skarre was 14" away from Mulg and Madrak. She had two bokurs in front of her and a ton of troops between my force and her. Time to set up the assassination. I had my line pretty set I just needed to clear some room so Madrak could get far enough forward that Mulg could then get to Skarre via the feat and still benefit from carnage the entire way. Since all of Andy's army was still benefiting from her feat I had the pyre put flaming fists on Mulg to put his club at P+S 21 and the KSB ran and did +1 dmg. Things were going perfectly and I even crit smited a bokur over Skarre to knock her down this is gonna be cake...oh wait there was a raider captain near by..doh. I got down to Mulg's last attack needing a seven to hit but failed. I took the rest of the turn to protect Maddy the best I could via Janissa's wall and such. The following assassination failed due to the scroll, high def, the wall, and a transfer. Madrak finished the job on my next turn. Good start I was able to get a W and spite the man of the day.

Game two paired me up against Tim and his Legion of Everblight army. I reluctantly took Jarl because I wanted to be able to pick my army in the finals if I won instead of being pigeon holed into one list. Jarl's feat is really not good against Legion but them the breaks. Tim took pVaylCP. The game was back and forth with Tim having a couple crucial rolls fail putting him behind the curve. This was the maiden voyage of the SoB and Rok and I was happy with what the SoB accomplished with Tor killing 4 hex hunters and Bayal on his assault turn. Rok was just there looking scary keeping people away from Jarl. Game came down to the very end of our clocks and I won on scenario. This round saw Adam beat his old man to set us up for a finals match up.

Game three yay Cryx again. So my match ups for this tourney were Cryx, Legion, Cryx....YUCK. Adam was paying pDenny and eSkarre (I think it was e). He picked Denny and I went Jarl. I love my Madrak list but the fear of Mulg getting crippling grasp on him is terrifying to me and ruins my entire plan so Jarl stayed on the table. I won the roll and elected to go second. Adam ran an arc node up so he could start hitting me with debuff top of two. I couldn't have that happen so I did all I could to try and take out the arc on the bone chicken. After all my shots I was able to take out the cortex and Jarl feated throwing up 2 rows of clouds. Taking out the cortex was a major boon to my chances as he was unable to acquire a target turn two since the bonejack could walk far enough to see anyone through the second row of clouds. The game was back and forth with Adam holding the slight edge in piece trade off. Bottom of four was my shot to try and take out Denny. After using magic bullet three time (one cast by the runebearer) and two sets of blast damage I was able to kill of Denny (I had some poor MB damage rolls) to finish 3-0 and take first place.

It was a fun day and a nice send off of Mr Cash who took 2nd place with fastest last rights. Adam took 3rd with most VPs.

Farewell Andy you will be missed her in the 'cuse. Best of luck in Atlanta and make sure you bring the spite. Hope to catch you at Templecon 2013 and get a game. Safe travels and once again best of luck!

Tourney Recap

Hey guys. Yesterday we had a little tourney at our FLGS. I believe I mentioned this tourney briefly in another pots but he is a quick run down.

* 35 pts
* Casual Time Limit (35 would normally be 7 min turns these will be 10) to help with the new models
* You may have 1 league model per list AND/OR 1 jack/beats upgrade per list. Please indicate on your army list which league the model came from so we can find it.
* If you use a league model it REPLACES that type of model (ie if you take the Gravedigger Grenadier from the Nightfall league you can not take a normal Grenadier)
* 1st place Undefeated
* 2nd place "You Broke My New Toy" most points of league (models or upgraded jacks/beats) destroyed
* 3rd place Fastest Last Rite (Caster Kill with your Caster)

So I headed out to the tourney and got there right at noon (start time). Luckily we are typically a little behind so it wasn't an issue. I still didn't know what two lists I was going to play but I was toying with three or four different league models to try out. The league models in consideration were:

-Fellblades x2 units: fennblades that become weaponmasters and  have abominations, berserk, and a P+S increase of one. Lose vengeance. ('locks in consideration Calandra, eMadrak)
-Skaldi Bonehammer Drinking Buddy: becomes a solo, makes champ heroes and himself mini Borkas with stumbling drunk and unyielding, give a mat bonus to champions with LOS to him. (Borka)
-Noral (KSB Character unit): takes fury off 'beasts via *action and has a spray attack which can be boosted via fury. Still maintains protective aura. (pMadrak)

I was able to borrow a unit of Fennblades from Abe so the double fenn beame an option but he forgot to put the UA with it so the eMadrak idea I had went out the window leaving me Calandra, Borka, and pMaddy. I asked Adam which 'lock he wanted me to put on the table and without even knowing who I had in the back or my thoughtsd he says "Calandra or whatever her name is". I said you sure and he said yup so there it was Cally to be list one:

Calandra Truthsayer, Oracle of the Glimmerwood (*5pts)
* Troll Impaler (5pts)
* Dire Troll Bomber (10pts)
* Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
Trollkin Fellblades (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Trollkin Fennblade Officer & Drummer (2pts)
Trollkin Fellblades (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
Janissa Stonetide (3pts)
Stone Scribe Chronicler (2pts)
I just needed a second list. I went with Borka using the Family Reunion theme force:

Borka Kegslayer (*5pts)
* Slag Troll (6pts)
* Mulg the Ancient (12pts)
*Keg Carrier (n/a)
Greygore Boomhowler & Co. (Boomhowler and 9 Grunts) (9pts)
Krielstone Bearer and 5 Stone Scribes (4pts)
Skaldi Bonehammer, Drinking Buddy (3pts)
Trollkin Champion Hero (3pts)
Trollkin Champion Hero (3pts)
Both lists used Trollkin Champions (Leader and 2 Grunts) (6pts) as reinforcements if needed.

We had seven guys turn out for the event. It was a decent turnout not great seeing as the weather was crappy but not bad either.
So round one I drew Scudo. No real shock there I mean what kinda of local tourney would it be if I didn't draw Dave round one? In all seriousness I think we have played each other ion round one of close to 75% of the events I got to. Let's get it out of the way now...Damn you Scudo. I went with my fenn blades of doom with Calandra. Dave played his new obsession (2012) Blindwater Congregation but more specifically Maelok. His two lists were exactly the same just 'lock swaps. He is really into Maelok so I knew the list he was playing. His league model was the spitter upgrade which was almost important for later.

The piece of terrain in the center was a real pain in the ass. I think the scenario was destruction.

Here are a few other photos from round one. I had a second while Dave was setting up to go around and get photos of the other tables.

Les: rocking the purple Searforge.

 Ty: Ret of angry elves

Adam: dirty dirty Cryxian (yet such a likable young man...how is that possible?)

Mickey: Representing the swan. You might recognize Mickey's work. He writes articles for http://handcannononline.com/ under the handle DieselDM. Really sharp lookin Cygnar.

Zack: Throwing down in the name of the Motherland? Yup that is Zack's bear hand pointing out the two Khador Models in his "Khadoran" army list

Tim was running the event but seeing as we had an odd number played the whoever was on the bye. Once again representing Cryx which he claims will be shelved for the remainder of 2012. We will see Mr Tim if you can refrain from the darkness that is Cryx :)

So round one went pretty well for me ending in Calandra KDing Maelok via force blow, a fellblade and 2 bombs. AS I was setting up the kill I looked at Scudo's two remaining beast and noticed they were full so we are all good no transfers right? Wrong. I forgot about the league version of the spitter allowing it to receive transfers when full. Luckily the damage was just high enough on the final hit to kill Maelok to the T.

Round two I got paired up with Adam. I forgot to take photo of this one (happen at least once a tourney right?) He played Scaverous and seeing as were were playing on a winter board I decided to go Borka. This was a reinforcement scenario (forgetting name at the moment). It was the one where the reinforcements come in on the board edge you are trying to score on. Turn one I run everything up table and get buffs out. Adam was able to kill a boomhowler grunt and a KSB grunt via an arced feast of worms. Turn two I brought my champs on and ran them into the zone. I was able to get a few attacks in but nothing spectacular. On his turn he brought in a stalker and pistol wraith. The stalker charged one of my champ heroes but before he got to attack Skaldi counter charged and took out half his grid. He tried to kill Borka at range with a feated Scaverous but after hitting him once Borka stumbled out of range....also putting my mauler out of my control zone. Adam forgot to contest the zone so I scored a point. At this point the game is over 'cause you with with 2 CP and as soon as I end my turn I will score but what fun would that be....go for the throat Team Spite style. Some how needing to roll a 5 or lower on my mauler he passed his threshold check and didn't murder Greygore who was standing next to him. Borka moved up cast mosh pit and feated. A champ hero charged Scaverous KDing the 'caster and putting up some nice damage. I then had my slag do two fully boosted (4d6 due to erosion) spits onto Scaverous sending him back to the grave.

Round three put me up against Zack. I forget the mission (gotta start writing this stuff down) I knew he was going to play his eIrusk MoW block of death list. I went with the Calandra list.

I forgot to take a phot of his force but it was:

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (*5pts)
* Marauder (7pts)
Man-o-war Demolition Corps (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
Man-o-war Kovnik (3pts)
Man-o-war Kovnik (3pts)

So Zack loves this list and he played a 50pt version for Templecon hardcore. The list just chews up anything in front of it but it is slow only being able to move 4"....wait what did you say Zack the league Kovnik gives them desperate pace making them speed 6? There goes the threat range advantage. I go first and move up the board he does as well. I am just outside of charge range so I put hero's tragedy on one unit of fenns and then move them up. I give him about three targets leaving the others ready to charge in retaliation. On his turn he kills the three fens I gave him and then managed to kill 3 move from shield cannons...huh? He then feats and due to placement issues on my part get a CP. OK time to charge and eat some of these MoW...wait eIrusks feat just ruined all of that. So at this point things are looking kinda bleak for the Kriels but I just damage what I can and try to target his league models to lock up second place if need be. We go back and forth for a few turns with each of us scoring one CP. Couple brain farts by each of us had pretty big impacts but when he forgot to battle lust the MoWs it was a big blow. We ended up going to dice down and I squeaked out a W via 3rd tie breaker. It felt kinda dirty seeing as he really had me on the ropes most of the game but it happens I guess.

The event was a lot of fun (it is always fun when I get to game). Thanks to Tim for running the event. Now I just need to decide what I am buying with my $40 of store credit :)

Tourney time

Our modified longest night tourney was yesterday. I had a really hard time deciding on what my second list was going to be. After playing with multiple lists for multiple 'locks I decided to go back to one of my old favorites eDoomshaper. I decided to go with eDoomie due to the low model count and short timed turns this event. The two lists I packed up for today where:

Borka Kegslayer (*5pts)
* Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
* Earthborn Dire Troll (10pts)
Greygore Boomhowler & Co. (Boomhowler and 9 Grunts) (9pts)
Krielstone Bearer and 3 Stone Scribes (3pts)
* Krielstone Stone Scribe Elder (1pts)
Stone Scribe Chronicler (2pts)
Trollkin Champion Hero (3pts)
Trollkin Champion Hero (3pts)

Reinforcements:
Swamp Troll (4pts)
Gudrun the Wanderer (3pts)

Hoarluk Doomshaper, Rage of Dhunia (*6pts)
* Troll Axer (6pts)
* Earthborn Dire Troll (10pts)
* Mulg the Ancient (12pts)
* Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
Trollkin Champions (Leader and 2 Grunts) (6pts)
Janissa Stonetide (3pts)
Troll Whelps (2pts)

Reinforcements:
Slag Troll (6pts)
Feralgeist (1pts)

The eDoomie list is a little different than ones I have used in the past. I decided to add the champions as a bodyguard for Doomie as he can be a little squishy. I know some people want a damage buff in all lists but from my own playing I find Mulg and the EBDT don't really require one. Sure some extra damage is always nice but not essential.

The tourney really had little to do with the Longest Night at all and was more of a SR2012 beta tourney with Longest Night patches. We only had 7 guys show up and one left after the first round. I have to say some of the SR2012 scenarios seem a little odd. Many time we just ignored them and went for caster kill cause they seem convoluted and not worth doing. This may be that out play group has played so many games with SR2011 that we are stuck in our ways.

Game one was against Hammy playing pStryker. I went with my Family Reunion list. The shortened time limits in SR2012 really but the pressure on and made for a slightly contentious game. This was a little upsetting 'cause I don't get to play too often so I don't like having hard feelings, one way or the other, when I do get to play. The game used one of the new scenarios and I had a hard time wrapping my head around it so I just ignored it. Hindsight being 20/20 I actually think I had a decent list for the scenario and should have been trying to play it. The game ended up going to dice down and he won on points in his control area....truth be told he would have won on VPs too had it come to that. Well 0-1.

Next game I ran into Scudo. No matter how many people are in an event I seem to play him. If I actually get to got to Templecon I bet I get paired with him there too. He was playing an eBaldur theme list (T3) and I went with eDoomie. This scenario used the reinforcement rules which were kind of fun. The game went pretty well with my heavies putting a lot of pressure on him and Doomie staying pretty protected in the rear. I made some dumb mistakes, like I tend to do, but the game ended with my EBDT eating Baldur. I should have payed a little more attention and farmed some VPs this would come back to bite me later. I forgot to take photos of this games forces/set up. His list to the best of my recollection was the following:

Baldur the Stonesoul (*5pts)
* Megalith (11pts)
* Woldguardian (9pts)
Druids of Orboros (Leader and 5 Grunts) (7pts)
* Druid of Orboros Overseer (2pts)
Shifting Stones (2pts)
Blackclad Wayfarer (2pts)
Blackclad Wayfarer (2pts)
Lord of the Feast (4pts)
Reinforcements:
Woldwatcher (5pts)
Shifting Stones (2pts)
The last game was against LordSorrow playing Legion and an eThargosh list. I once again went eDoomie. He was able to get so quality damage on Doomie and had he not run out of time might have finished him on the feat turn. He most certainly would have made a few more moves which would have protected him a little better. Due to time running out however I had a charge lane to Thags with my EBDT with wild aggression on him. Thagrosh ended like Baldur as a snack for my EBDT.

Well we were packing up and prizes were being announced. The champion and winner of the Longest Night model was PG_Z1G1. He was the final game by going to the 4th tiebreaker and winning by 1 VP due to his 'caster having a lower point cost than his opponent. It turns out I missed third play by 6 points. I really wish I farmed those VPs in game 2. Looking back at the game I had a pretty easy 8 VPs right there when I killed Baldur...oh well. All in all a good day. If I do make it to Templecon I really need to practise these new SR2012 rule and time issues.

Decisions Decisions: Tourney List Ideas

I didn't really have anytime to work on my Boomhowlers today but with my week off starting tomorrow/today I should be able to bang them out this week and put a done stamp on them.

Having little to no hobby time this week I have turned to one of my other pastimes list building. This Saturday Comix Zone and one of our local Press Gangers is running a modified Longest Night tourney. Our gaming group isn't much for gimmicky events and just like to play regular tourneys and bring the Spite. The event is going to be: 35 point SR2012Beta tournament, 2 lists required: Warcaster/Warlock Characters Restricted,
Divide and Conquer, 7 minute turns + one 3 minute extension.

I have not had a chance to look at the SR2012 beta sheet yet but from what I hear the scenarios have changed up a bit and there is something called reinforcements. In a 35 pt tourney I will be allowed to take an additional 7pts worth of mini to be my reinforcements. These will be able to come onto the table in scenarios that allow the reinforcement rule and are just for show in those that do not. The other major issue is character restriction across the board for SR2012 so I can only bring Janissa in one list.

Seeing as I have been working on my Borka list and really enjoyed it the last time I played it I think the "Family" will be one of my two lists. Right now I am thinking something like this but obviously there is room to change.

Borka (-5)
-EBDT (10pts)
-Mauler (9pts)
-Keg Carrier (n/a)
Boomhowlers: full unit (9pts)
KSB: min unit (3pts)
-SSE (1pt)
Champ Hero (3pts)
Champ Hero (3pts)
SSC (2pts)

Reinforcements:
Swamp Troll (4pts)
Gudrun (3pts)

After this I am really torn on what I want to do. Seeing as I didn't use my girl in the previous list (only due to theme restrictions) I have free reign to use her in my other list. I have been playing with an eMaddy/dygmies of death list, a pMaddy beast brick, a Jarl/minions list, a Jarl/faction list, and seeing as I haven't played him a little while an eDoomie list.
Right now I think I am leaning towards either the pMaddy beast brick or the Jarl/minion list (gators/nyss). I love the dygs but I just don't play eMaddy very well for some reason. The dygs work really well for me with Cally but with 7 min turns I am fearful I will be able to keep pace with a Cally infantry heavy list so she is shelved for this event. Hopefully I get a little downtime tonight at work and I can play with some lists and lock down a second 'lock for the event.

Tomorrow I will be posting my second instalment of random miniature Mondays. I am not sure which direction I am going to go. I might follow week one and go with one of my original Warmachine minis...I will have to look through my comp when I get home and see what I have pics of ready to go.

This week my goals are to finish painting the Boomhowlers and Gudrun. If I can actually get all that done my plan is to work on eBloodsong a little and seeing as my second box of long riders is in at CZ get my full unit of long riders assembled. That sounds like a tall order in one week so if I can just get the painting done I will be happy.

Domination Tourney III

Yesterday was our final Domination event. We had 8 guys show up this week so not bad just not a good as the 14 for the previous event. The breakdown was as follows:

-2 Cygnar
-2 Legion
-1 Cryx
-1 Circle
-1 Trollblood
-1 Skorne

I was thinking about bringing Circle or Minions this week but I really wanted to play the NQ Borka theme list so despite already having the troll coin I brought them again. My 2 lists for the tourney were:

Borka Kegslayer (*5pts)
* Swamp Troll (4pts)
* Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
Greygore Boomhowler & Co. (Boomhowler and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
Krielstone Bearer and 3 Stone Scribes (3pts)
Stone Scribe Chronicler (2pts)
Trollkin Champion Hero (3pts)
Trollkin Champion Hero (3pts)

and

Calandra Truthsayer, Oracle of the Glimmerwood (*5pts)
* Troll Impaler (5pts)
* Dire Troll Bomber (10pts)
Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (Cylena and 9 Grunts) (10pts)
Alten Ashley, Monster Hunter (2pts)
Janissa Stonetide (3pts)

I had every intention of playing Borka in all my games but ended up playing Cally one time. Once again I brought my camera to take some photos but once again forgot to actually do it. So her are a few shots I took this am of part of the family army.

Game one I ran up against Cryx and a pGoreshade army. The game went really well and I cleared the board netting me 41 VPs and grabbing 2 CPs as well. The Boomhowlers really threaten the control areas early and were a nightmare to kill (gotta love 4+ tough)

Game 2 I ran up against Circle. His 2 lists were both tier lists. One was the new eBaldur and the other was a Morvahna. Due to the number of she tharn in the second list I opted to go with Cally and the AOEs. He went Baldur. This game really pissed me off because I managed to snatch defeat from the jaw of victory. I had the game pretty well in hand (of course he forgot a spell on his card that would have been a big help to him) but over extended one turn and left Cally a little too close to the action and got her killed (damn you Scudo)

Game 3 put me up against "the profession" Mr Cash himself. The game was pretty back and forth with a lot of jabs looking for the knockout punch. It looked like I was set up to land that big punch first when I was all set to have a raged up Mauler charge Ol' Rowdy on the feat turn. I could see it all p+s 18 so dice -1 on 3d6, then do it again with 2d6, then the chain attack 2h throw at eCaine with boosted damage 4d6 cause of feat, and finally boost to hit Caine on the throw and with a hit 3d6 at dice....all we needed was to hit but how hard will that be only need 6.....oops 5 on the first roll plan failed. We beat up Rowdy pretty bad but next turn he feat and killed both my beast. I still looked to be OK but the keg was about 1/2" too far away from Borka to get stumbling drunk on my next turn so had to rely on iron flesh. It was at this point "the professional" came to play rolling a 9 on 2d6 with Pendrake to score a KD then the next 2 damage rolls for Caine came out 16 and 18 on 3d6 each...WHAT!?! Good game.

I was a little upset with game 2s results but all in all I had a good time and really enjoyed the "family reunion" and look to play it more. I miss not having Janissa and her lovely wall. I was packing up when the coins and prizes were being passes out not paying too much attention when I heard I won 3rd place due to VPs which was cool. I also traded my troll coin for a circle one so that was also a nice little bonus. I picked up eBloodsong during the event and ordered a box of long riders to do her theme list. Thanks to our newest PG_Z1G1 and CZ for running these event they were a blast.

Domination tourney II

OK so Wednesday night we had another Domination event. This week we had 14 players which was awesome and seeing as we had such great attendance at the previous two tourneys all the entry fees went to prize support from CZ equalling $140 WOW! The awards were 1st undefeated, 2nd fastest caster kill, 3rd most VPs, and the there were faction coins available as well. the break down was as follows:

4-Skorne
3-Legion
2-Minion
1-Circle
1-Trollblood
1-Merc
1-Menoth
1-Retribution

I brought may camera again this week to photo some of the games but once again forgot to take pics. Seeing as I already got the Troll coin last week I decided to go for the Minions coin and played Blindwater Congregation. My 2 lists were:

Maelok, the Dreadbound (*6pts)
* Bull Snapper (3pts)
* Boneswarm (4pts)
* Blackhide Wrastler (9pts)
Gatormen Posse (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
Thrullg (3pts)
Totem Hunter (3pts)

Bloody Barnabas (*6pts)
* Bull Snapper (3pts)
* Blackhide Wrastler (9pts)
Gatormen Posse (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
Feralgeist (1pts)
Wrong Eye & Snapjaw (9pts)

I know you are saying how can you use a boneswarm it is not released yet. I have on of the IK boneswarms and got permission from the TO that as long as I had the real model and a printout or the card from Domination he would be legal. Round one I got pared up with the Ret player from the week before. The mission was Killbox. He was playing the same list as the previous week which was:

Lord Arcanist Ossyan (*6pts)
* Hydra (9pts)
Dawnguard Invictors (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
* Dawnguard Invictor Officer & Standard (2pts)
Dawnguard Sentinels (Leader and 9 Grunts) (9pts)
* Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard (2pts)
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution (3pts)
This game wet really well for me. My army advanced up under the cover of swamp pits and submerge. He advance his army to the point were I had all but Ossy and 2 minis in Barnabas' control area so I feated and destroyed all but 5 models. He tried to counter back but just didn't have enough firepower to do much and was tabled the following turn netting me a W and 36 VPs....good start.

Game 2 I got paired with the Troll player who was from out of town (we had 3 guys show up from over an hour away). The mssion was Incursion. He was playing a heavy army Borka list. I didn't pick up on it at the time but did when I started writing this his list was actually not legal. It had 2 'loack attachments. Here is the list:

Borka Kegslayer (*5pts)
* Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
* Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
Gatormen Posse (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
Trollkin Champions (Leader and 4 Grunts) (10pts)

OK being a troll player myself had a really good idea what was what here. I went with Barnabas again. This game was a little touchy. I made a mistake in the middle of my feat turn (which again knocked down everything but Borka, the keg carrier, and the Runebearer) I charged his Mauler and killed it with Snapjaw then proceeded to charge with the posse. Half way threw this my opponent said wait he Snapjaw was out of Wrongeye's control area the Mauler is still alive and put him back on the table. I was a little put off by this as I was more than 1/2 way through my next unit when he called this and wanted to just put him back on the table. I didn't do it maliciously but he was right so we called the TO over and we just re-rolled the damage from the the 2 initial attacks. I forgot to pause my time which would be a big problem as you will see. Anyways I finished out the turn my Voodoo dolling the maulers spirit to limit the backlash on my opponents turn. On the feat I managed to kill 3 champs, and 4 gators. He wasn't able to punch back too hard on his turn and I only lost 1 gator and my feralgiest on his turn. I ended up losing to my deathclock expiring with Borka surrounded by gators, having 1 wound, and a charging Snapjaw having 1 initial and 3 fury left......arrrgggghhh. Hindsight being 20/20 I most likely could have won on scenario even with the short time. Game 2: L, CP 1, VPs 24

Game 3 was against PG_Moz who was undefeat and got paired down to play me (damn VPs) The mission was close quarters I believe. He was playing LoE:

Rhyas, Sigil of Everblight (*6pts)
* Scythean (9pts)
* Seraph (8pts)
Blighted Nyss Raptors (Leader and 4 Grunts) (10pts)
Annyssa Ryvaal, Talon of Everblight (4pts)

Once again I took Barnabas to try and avoid as much shooting from the battle deer as possible. I mighthave been beter off with Maelok so they didn't get poision but eh. I really Eff'd this game up and go assassinated at range due to a massive screw up. I got smoked. Game 3: L, CP1, VP 0.

We were suppose to have a 4th round as there were 2 undefeated still but the store was closing in 10 min so they just called it a day. I made some big mistakes but learned from them and seeing as theywere my first games with gators I am not too upset...I obviously didn't get my Minion coin (Damn you Scudo). Next week we have off due to the holiday but the following week it is back on. I am not sure if I will play Trolls, Gators, or something else yet.

Domination tourney

Well I skipped out on sleep Wednesday to play in one of our weekly Domination tourneys. One of the local FLGS is running weekly 25pt tourney with full Domination prize support (faction coins). We did this with the release of Wrath and it worked out really well so we continued it for Domination. I had to miss week one (11 player turnout) so I made sure I went this week despite it being a work week.

We had 10 players this week with 8 playing Hordes factions and 2 Warmachine. I went 1-2 but won the Trollblood coin by default being the only troll player that days. Game one had me match up Jarl vs Minions and a Calaban tier list. The game was pretty back and forth with Jarl finally falling with 9sec left on my opponents deathclock and one health box on Calaban....Damn you Scudo. I think the major tipping point was when I made a fury error and had my EBDT frenzy in the middle of the game. I left the one on him seeing as we was not near my 'lock like the impaler and hell he has a threshold of 10 no worries right? Boxcars....oopps.

Game 2 Jarl vs. Ossyan. This game went really well for me. All the dice were rolling hot and a crit smite from the impaler slammed a hydra in Ossy setting him up for the ranged assassination.

Game 3 eMaddy vs. eCaine and the professional Cash. I was pretty shot by this point made some big tactical mistakes and got shot down by Caine.

Next week I should hopefully be more rested and play a little better. I think I might be trying for a different faction coin but will depend on how much painting I can get done at the beginning of the week. It has been a really slow week on the painting side with little/nothing to show.
