The Force Can Have a Strong Influence on the Weak Minded

Well said Obi-Wan well said. I am one of those weak minded souls Mr Kenobi spoke of in this quote from A New Hope. I have loved Star War from the time I as little. I had piles of the old action figures as a kid and can vividly remember one day my Grandmother came to visit and got of the bus with an AT-AT for me.

As many of you know Fantasy Flight Games has created an x-wing miniature game. I bought all the wave one minis when they were released but only played one or two games since. Wave two was recently released and while it consisted of two of my all time favorite ships in the Star Wars universe I was able to refrain from picking them up. I was playing Zombicide with my buddy Greg about two weeks ago when he uttered this phrase "we need to play some more x-wing soon".....well I think you are all smart enough to know what happened next:

Yup I picked up the wave two minis. Not pictured are the TIE interceptor and the A-wing which were also part of wave two. I then set up a 100pt Rebel force to play against Greg but unfortunately we haven't had the opportunity to play yet. I knew that Battlefoam makes trays for the game and check out this custom tray I saw on their Facebook page:

How awesome it that? I had that old Millennium Falcon figure case which they are using. Well like I Ben Kenobi said all those years ago "The force can have a strong influence on the weak minded"

What's in the Box Part (I forget)/State of the Cave

Yesterday after I dropped the boys of at nursery school I headed down to the post office as I had an email/tracking number informing me I could expect a package from New Jersey and Mr Hawkins. I was unlucky as I was not able to grab it before it was put on the truck for delivery. I had some other business to take care of at the post office as I have decided to commission someone to paint my Super Dungeon Explore core set and Dragon Clutch booster. This was a little odd for me as I have painted every mini in my collection but I really wanted them to look right and knew I wasn't going to be able to work on them anytime soon.

There were two items in the box from Rob. One of which is going to remain a surprise for a little while. I will be taking WiP photos while I work on it so I will do a step by step post but for now it will remain hush hush. I have already spent somewhere between one and two hours working on this project. This has been a combination of airbrush and standard painting so far. I have a bunch more to do but I want to get this project done ASAP so all other projects are sliding down the ladder.

The second item is an IKRPG mini which is a near duplicate of one he did for PP and No Quarter magazine. This gentleman here is going to be a gifted, gunmage, rifleman (or maybe scout). If you have the NQ you can see that the only difference is the addition of a Hammerfall highshield backpack.

I am relatively close to attaching the bison and war wagon to the 120mm base. I will wait to do this until Friday as I received a second email on Monday saying I can expect a package on Friday from Battlefoam with some half trays of various sizes (I think 5 in total). I want to have the wagon tray in hand before I glue mini to base so that I can be sure it will fit well in the Battlefoam.

I know I haven't been overly active painting of late but the last day and a half and the new mystery project have me pretty fired up again so hopefully there will be a rush of posts over the next two weeks. I haven't played a game in nearly 2 months and I am dying to get out and play. The hope is Friday but we will see what happens.

This and That

Despite not having too many finished minis to show I have gotten a fair bit of work done of the past few days. I finished up Madrak for this months PTT but haven't had a chance to take some photos. I am not sure I am 100% in love with the skin and I am considering an additional wash to tone it down a bit. That, however, will have to wait.

Here are some wips of Carver and Grissel as I promised last evening. They both are shaping up nicely. Grissel will be pretty straight forward from here as I know my normal progression. Carver on the other had will be trial and error seeing as farrow skin tones will be something entirely new for me.

I need to finish putting in all the yellow metal trim and accents then she will be ready for a wash. This step always makes a big difference in moving a mini closer to done.

The metals are mostly done at this point. Unfortunately some of the shading is washed out as I had the mini to close to the light when I took these photos.
This brings me to some Templecon prep. Here is my new Battlefoam bag which arrived yesterday afternoon. This load out will be temporary as I intend to replace some of the trays with custom one to more closely match my minis. I also like to have my minis standing upright whenever possible so when I do my custom trays it will try to accommodate this.

This bag hold significantly more minis than my old bag so hopefully I will never have to udder the phrase "@#$% I forgot ____ anyone have _____ I can borrow? No? Guess I am changing my list" Sadly I have said something along those lines too often.

I also picked up a little something to enjoy at Templecon....

So Les, how do you want yours?A little ginger or on the rocks?

OK off to the FLGS for a little tourney and practise prior to Templcon. I think we will be rolling with Jarl and Borka today but I will see what mood I am in when I get to the store. I might post some photos later tonight if I remember to take them.

Troll foam

While I was getting my sleep this afternoon a package arrived for me. I picked up 2 trays from battle foam to see how I liked them and how my trolls fit before I went all out and got a bag and more custom foam.

Don't have a ton of time to see how things fit as I have to head out to work but looks like it should fit the bill nicely. Now I just need my miniature market order to show up.
